Dr. Wen Duan is a lecturer in international law at the Law School of Hainan University. He has obtained his Ph.D. degree in Law from Utrecht University in 2021 and his Juris Master degree from Peking University in 2016. His research interests are in the areas of public international law with the focus on international law of the sea. He has published a monograph and a series of research articles, including The International Legal Regime Relating to Marine Protected Areas in Areas beyond National Jurisdiction: Identifying and Addressing Gaps (Brill, 2022) and “Area-Based Management Tools under the BBNJ Agreement: Ambition or Illusion?” (Review of European, Comparative & International Environmental Law, 33 (2024)).
